Gas Chromatography

The analytical labs are equipped with two gas chromatography instruments coupled to mass spectrometry detectors.

The Agilent 5977B GC-MSD has a standard split/splitless and a multimode and is equipped with an Agilent capillary reversed flow modulator for comprehensive GCxGC (with split-flow for simultaneous MS and FID detection).

The Agilent 7200B GC-QTOF is a high-resolution-accurate-mass quadrupole-time-of-flight GC-MS (>13,500 FWHM, <2 ppm mass accuracy) equipped with a Zoex ZX-2 thermal modulator for comprehensive GCxGC. The MSD can be used for both non-target screening and quantitative work, and the QTOF is generally used for the identification of unknowns. The systems can be used for analysis of hydrocarbons (saturated and aromatic), organic acids and alcohols and for statistical analysis of compositional differences between samples.
